TV: Orange Sky Laundry service boosts confidence of Melbourne’s homeless community

Every night, approximately 20,000 people sleep rough on the streets of Melbourne. Along with freezing cold conditions and struggling to find food to eat, a major concern for homeless people is access to laundry facilities. Two young Queenslanders saw a solution to this problem and founded the Orange Sky Laundry, a portable and mobile laundry service built into vans that have been traveling all around the Brisbane and Sydney CBDs since 2014. Now, the boys have to set up a service in Melbourne.

Jade Bate reports.

This package was produced as part of my internship with Nine News Melbourne.
